Where did this ridiculous statement come from? Do people actually believe it? Is it because that those who shave their legs believe that once they started that it appears that they need to do it more often? The only effect that shaving your head will have is to make your hair very short indeed. If you want that look then go for it!
Once your hair pops through your scalp it is dead hair. That is to say that the hair above your scalp is dead. The only part of the hair that is alive is below the scalp – imbedded in your hair follicle. Shaving will not make it healthier, nor will it make it grow quicker and it certainly will not make your hair thicker.
We do know that a hair growing from an unhealthy follicle grows less in length and becomes thinner over time.
Treating hair loss involves caring for the individual hair follicles to ensure that they can grow normal healthy hairs. We also know that consuming the essential vitamins, minerals and proteins is paramount for healthy hair regrowth. The normal rate is 10 millimetres per month or if you still measure in inches – that’s one inch every two and a half months. Therefore if your hair is at its healthiest and you avoided the hairdresser for 12 months your hair would grow a whopping 120 millimetres in 12 months.
If your hair is not growing at this rate then you could be in the early stages of alopecia (hair loss). If you are concerned, now is the time to do something about it. Do not wait until the obvious signs of the receding hairline appear as the process is already underway. We do know that the earlier that you address your hair loss the better the benefits of treatment. It may be a simple comment from your hairdresser – your hair hasn’t grown much since your last visit – that tips you off.
I gree and have found this to be so true.
